CBZ Chess Club emerged champions at the inaugural Kariba Rapid Chess Team tournament held at Tamarind Resort in Kariba over the weekend. The event was organised and hosted by the Harare Chess Society.
In a clean sweep, CBZ Chess players also won all the best board awards available from the 1st to the 4th boards. RBZ Chess Club came second after a much-contested round-robin competition.
The 2024 Kariba Rapid Chess Team Tournament also focused on advocating for mental health. Through an excellent discussion facilitated by mental health expert Daniel Tarisai, the chess players at the event engaged in mental health in the workplace. They successfully defined mental health, identified the causes and signs and discussed models employed by other organisations to improve employee mental health.
The President of the Society thanked everyone who attended and promised that the event would be bigger and better in 2025. At the end of the event, attendees were treated to a memorable sunset boat cruise party on the Kariba dam.
