Membership
TERMS AND CONDITIONS.
DEFINITIONS:
- “Society” means Harare Chess Society, a Non-Profit Organisation operating in Harare Zimbabwe.
- “Member” means the applicant or Organisation named on the Membership Application Form,
- “The Club” means the chess club for which the member applied for membership.
- “Privileges” means the rights available to a member upon admission into the Society.
ADMISSION
A member shall complete all relevant application forms and or contracts and pay in full any such sums as may be required by the Society before accessing any membership privileges. The Society shall reserve the right to refuse admission to any applicant.
MEMBERSHIP FEES.
Members shall pay a once off non-refundable joining fee, and a recurring annual subscription amount as may be announced by the Society from time to time. No part of the subscription fee is refundable if for any reason membership is terminated before the expiry of the membership year.
REGISTER
The Society shall maintain a register of members into which shall be entered member’s full details including date of joining, termination or readmission.
MEMBERSHIP CARDS.
The Society may issue a membership card to each member. Such a card shall be valid to the extent that membership fees are up to date. Misuse of card may result in termination of membership. A replacement fee may be charged for lost or displaced cards.
CLASSES OF MEMBERSHIP.
Society membership shall be available under any of the following classes:
- Club Member.
Any individual who joins the Society in their personal capacity. Requirements: Application form, Joining Fee, Recurring annual fees
- Junior Member:
Any individual who is 13 years and below joining represented by their guardian. Requirements: Application form, Joining Fee, Recurring annual fees
- Platinum Member.
For organizations, joining on behalf of their chess club members. Their members shall be recognized as fully paid-up members and shall carry individual cards. Requirements: Application form, Joining Fee, Recurring annual fees
- Titled Member.
All individuals who have a FIDE recognized title have an automatic entry under this classification. Requirements: Application form, Joining fee, No recurring annual fees.
- Honorary Member.
Bestowed upon any individual at the discretion of the Society in recognition of immense contribution to Zimbabwe Chess or any other befitting criteria. Requirements: None.
ACCESS
A member shall access Society activities at the designated venue and designated times as communicated by the Society from time to time
GORVENING LAWS.
Members of the Society and their membership shall be governed by Society by-laws, constitution and any other declarations made by the Society. The Society itself operates under the applicable laws of Zimbabwe, FIDE and the National Federation.
PRIVILEDGES
Membership privileges shall not be transferable and shall be subject to any terms and conditions set by the Society from time to time. Privileges shall include but will not be limited to:
- Having a membership card(s) that confirm your membership status.
- Access to member exclusive events, such as awards, tournaments, leagues and trainings.
- Access to Society facilities, venues and events (subject to availability and published calendar).
- Access to all Society organized public events at discounted and preferential rates.
- Rights to vote at the AGM and to nominate your representative(s) for Society committee roles.
- and any other services that the Society may offer exclusively to its members.
DRESS CODE
The Society operates a smart casual dress code, and members are encouraged to always dress appropriately. Those who fail to do so may be refused entry or participation.
INDEMNITY.
Neither the Society, nor its agents shall be liable for any loss, damage or theft of any property belonging to Member or any guest of the Member nor any death, personal injury or illness occurring at the Society venue or facilities provided by the Society, except to the extent that such loss, damage, theft, death, injury or illness arise from neglect or omission of the Society or its agents.
DISCIPLINE
Any violation of these terms and conditions or any other Society rules will subject the member to disciplinary action. Such action may include fines, suspension of membership privileges and/or termination of the membership.
APPEALS
Complaints, Appeals or Suggestions of any kind shall be in writing, signed and addressed to the Secretary – General.
TERMINATION
Membership shall cease by non-payment of subscription fees, expulsion or resignation.
