Praggnanandhaa had an amazing run to the final eliminating world number 2 Hikaru Nakamura and World Number 3 Fabiano Caruana to secure a match against World Number 1.

In a World Cup where Zimbabwe’s IM Rodwell Makoto struggled, Fabiano Caruana clinched third place to secure a ticket to the FIDE Candidates tournament next year, after defeating Nijat Abasov in the tiebreaks.
